IT WAS A GOOD LONG RUN

After a long and painful battle with bone cancer, my father slipped from this world into the next at 12:10 p.m. on the 22nd of May. I will miss my best buddy very much.

ANOTHER TRIP TO THE BAY

I've been honing up on my ability to paint water in watercolors and finished this work last night. Mainly I wanted to work on the reflective nature of the water more than anything else. I believe I've attained that much in this painting at least.

An update on my father's condition: He has been placed in a home for the time being. Medicare informs me that they can only accommodate him for 37 days and then they will throw him out on the streets. The home offered to keep him but only if my father relinquishes his retirement checks, his bank account and puts a lean on his house. In plain words, you can find compassion but it comes at a price. And the price is far too high when you have to sacrifice a lifetime of work just to receive the right thing. For years I was against any form of socialized medicine but using my father's situation as an example as to how underhanded the medical field is with the insurance companies as their sidekicks, it's certainly time for a change. And just think, when the baby boomers become eligible for Medicare there may not be any money left to care for them in their old age. I think our government better wake up and stop throwing the tax payers money away on overseas investments (including this drawn out war) and start feeding it back to the people who put it there in the first place.
