ONE THAT NEARLY GOT AWAY

I've been wanting to post this new watercolor for quite some time, but have continually forgot to scan the thing. So today I forced myself to remember (not an easy task) and finally got it posted for any critiques coming to me. It's a nice little work of my beloved Chesapeake Bay. I don't think I quite got a definite style down in watercolor - no distinct signature, but I'm working diligently at it as my studio time allows for it.

And yet another one for the Louvre

Christos Inesti or Christ is Risen for all you non-Orthodox Christians. Today was the end of our fifty day Lenten Fast and a great time was had by all. I really enjoyed myself at my very first celebration as an Antiochian Orthodox Christian. It was a long time coming but I made the grade :-) Now on with the new art.

This is a painting I did for my friend and priest Father Gregory. His favorite story from the Bible, as it should be with all Christians, is the Prodigal Son. A week after my Chrismation into the Orthodox order I presented him with this watercolor of that union of father and son.

Then a very good friend of mine, Anita (Madelena) requested a painting of Mary washing the feet of Jesus. Although the Prodigal Son is a nice little painting I think the washing of the feet was just as special for me to paint.

I'm preparing to do a series of landscapes the next couple of months using Maryland's golf courses as my subject. I won't be putting in the greens or golfers... I just like the way the professional landscape artists create a beautiful picture with shrubs and trees.

HAPPEN TO BE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Every so often I visit to see what everyone's up to and get the urge to show off some of my latest stuff. And here it is:

It's a group of Orthodox Christians leaving their church for an afternoon walk. I'm taking an in depth study of trees and skies and will work my way up to other aspects of the landscape.

And that's all I have for the time being. I've been away so long I have to learn how to post on the blog page again.
